Challenges and Advanced Research In Nuclear Astrophysics

- A network to harmonize the nuclear astrophysics research in Europe - 6th European Research Framework Program 2005 - 2008

CARINA Working groups

In order to reach the main goals of CARINA, namely:

- Exploiting the research capabilities of existing Large Scale Facilities (LSF) and of smaller laboratories and enhancing involvement in the future RIB facilities.
- Recording the needs for new instrumentation and techniques; looking for existing “solutions” in other fields.
- Coordinating research efforts by defining and proposing common research goals and by encouraging new collaborations and new R&D projects.

We have established four working groups each coordinated by two members of the nuclear(astro) physics community.

The role of the coordinators of these working group is:
- to inform the CARINA members of the different activities in their specific area in Europe,
- to serve as a link between CARINA and the EURONS community,
- to coordinate initiatives related to their area within CARINA

Working group Conveners
WG1: Astrophysical models and nuclear theory Jordi José (IEEC, Barcelona, Spain) &  Alain Coc (CSNSM, Orsay, France)
WG2: Instrumentation Tom Davinson (Edinburgh, UK) &  Giacomo de Angelis (INFN, LNL, Legnaro, Italy)
WG3: Link to the EURONS large scale facilities Alberto Mengoni (IAEA, Vienna) & Michael Heil (GSI, Darmstadt, Germany)
WG4: Link to other European laboratories Endre Somorjai (ATOMKI Debrecen, Hungary)

The members of the EURONS community interested on the CARINA activities should contact the coordinators of their specific area.
